How can I fetch all instances of a type in which a field that is any array is not empty

If this is how a type looks like:
entity type Class schema name "CLASS"{ students: [ Student ] (class) }

how can I fetch all classes where students.length != 0 ?
exists(students) , length(students)> 0, count(students) > 0, !empty(students), exists( don’t work

How is the type Student defined? From the above, it appears to be a reference to a single obj.

It is not a single object. It is an array of objects. The formatting messed with how I had originally posted the question. Sorry about that.

exists(students) should work and we have a number of test cases where it does. Can you create a branch/ticket for me to investigate?
